Le Canal Fait des Vagues

English version

 WELCOME TO OUR BLOG!

On this site you can find the activities of the association 'le Canal fait des Vagues', (the Canal makes Waves), which is based in Saint Congard*, Morbihan. We organise, along with others, a grand 'Fête de Canal de Nantes à Brest', which is traditionally held on the last weekend in June.
*for those whose geography is a little hazy, Saint Congard is between Malestroit and La Gacilly.

In 2009, the program took place inbetween Friday 26th June and Sunday 28th June. Among different events, here’s an example of what went on : Aperitif/concert in the bar 'Le Canal', Display of antique mobylettes, Bouncy castle for children, Fishing demonstration (carp & pike), Canoes from the Malestroit club with invited guests, Open air meal (crab starter, grilled port with bio new potatoes, cheese, dessert, coffee for 11 €), Breton dancing with the group 'Penn Bihan', Firework display, over the canal, Demonstration of a boat adapted for the handicapped, Sea shanties, Breton games, Contest for OFNIs (unidentified floating objects) … a lot of fun !

2010 here we go again !!! It's been going for 6 years, getting better each time. This year again, the canal is going to make waves! The traditional Fete du Canal will be held at St Congard from the 26th to the 28th June. The highlight – the only firework display on the Nantes to Brest canal.
Fancy roast pork? You need to be at St Congard on the 27th June. This year, the organising committee is bigger and is already preparing an even more interesting program of events for the 6th Fete.

The association owns a spit roast which can cook four pigs simultaneously. Becase the
roasting is side on, the cooking juices do not fall onto the embers. The spits are turned by
an electric motor. This equipment is available for hire.
